When your power steering stops working or makes noise it usually is the pulley stripped out. The pulley can be damaged in many ways. It can break the bolt, strip on the drive ,or strip out the splined drive. Depending on the damage the cost to repair runs 350 for a basic rebuild. This includes new improved drive shaft. New bearings and proper spacing of the drive pulley. If allowed to run loose it can eat into the aluminum pulley housing. To weld and realign is 50-100$ If the main steel pulley bolt is broken it is 40$. I have done about 60 of these so far. The cause i think is that the lower hydraulic tensioner gets loose allowing the pulley to be hammered on by the belt when the supercharger comes onto boost. In most all cases if you see a brownish red dust on the rear of the pulley the splines are worn and most likely has started to wear the pump shaft. I sell new oem pumps. And i rebuild the hydraulic tensioners. Highly reccomended. I charge 100$ if doing the pulley. They where over 500$ when you could get them from GM becuse of the rarity of this item i will need to have your unit to rebuild. This listing is for shipping to ne to estimate and return shipping. I do have units available to swap out if you are a dealer. Once youbuy this listing we can discuss the repair. Again this listing is for an inspection and estimate plus return of your pulley. Do not buy until you have the pulley removed and ready to ship.
