Small Block Chevy 327 300HP Engine Long Block 3914678 68 Corvette HE Suffix OEM

I recently bought a large collection of parts from a life long Corvette collector and restorer in my area. This man spent a good part of his life chasing and collecting parts to restore 1956-1962 Corvettes. This collection included many orignal engines, engine blocks, cylinder heads, transmissions, rear differentials, fuel injection conponents, and much more. See my other listings for more parts from the same collection. This listing is for the following item: This is a real deal 1968 327/300HP Small Block Chevrolet engine long block. The casting number is 3914678. The casting date is G 1 8 which decodes as July 1st, 1968. The 3914678 block was used exclusively for 1968 302, 327, and 350 engines. This is a very hard to find 1968 dated block. The pad on this block is factory stamped 18S428116   V07I0HE as shown. The V07I0HE stamp shows this engine was assembled on July 10thth, 1968 as a 327/300HP engine backed by a manual transmission for a 1968 Corvette. The 18S428116 is the partial VIN of the 1968 Corvette this engine was originally installed in.    This is an awesome engine for a number's matching restoration! This long block is in good core condition as shown.   It was labeled as being removed from a 1968 Corvette in good running condition.   This long block consists of the engine block, crankshaft, rods, pistons, cylinder heads, oil pan, cam/lifters, timing cover, flywheel, and balancer. I removed the heads to get a good look at the cylinders and combustion chambers. The cylinders are still standard bore and look nice with no heavy ridge at the tops of the cylinders and light wear overall. The pistons are the original GM units with the part number cast into the inside of each skirt as shown.   There are no cylinder sleeves or pitting. The deck surfaces still have the original "broach marks" intact showing the engine decks have never been resurfaced. There are a few factory repairs on the deck surfaces as pointed out which are not unusual for blocks of this era.   The cylinder heads look quite nice as shown with no porting or modifications. The heads are the original camel hump units to this engine with casting numbers 3917291. The casting dates on the heads are G 1 8 and G 3 8 which is July 1st and 3rd, 1968. The original flywheel is included with casting number 3791021 and is dated F 29 8(June 29th, 1968). All threads are in good condition with a no helicoils or thread inserts. The engine turns over smoothly with no binding or sloppiness. I am selling this as a good core for rebuilding.    This is a great long block to build for performance or restoration.
