Hello All Whom This May Interest, The listing here gets you a full rebuild of BOTH shaft seals on BOTH of the 996 and 997 chassis code Porsche 911 convertible models' top hydraulic cylinders. Additionally, I polish the chrome shafts and hone the inside of the cylinder body. The cars covered include all models 911 that are convertible, like base, S, 4S, Turbo, etc. from years 1997-2013. You send in your cylinders to me, I rebuild them, and send them back to you on my dime (in continental US). My usual turn around is 1-2 days. Should there be any issues with the rebuild, such as bend rods or pistons, I'll contact you before proceeding further. I own an extensive personal collection of vehicles that I have maintained myself over the years, picking up knowledge from my dad and grandpa, who were both German car techs and nerds. The 911 is one of my favorite timeless German classics, but as everything in this world, it's not perfect. The hydraulic tops in these cars, while way ahead of their time in terms of hydraulic and mechanical engineering, did not utilize superior materials in their construction, simply because modern materials didn't exist 20 years ago. The seal material used in the cylinders decays with time, regardless of mileage or use. I saw cars with 200k miles and 9k miles have the same problem: a leaking hydraulic top. Hence why I decided to take matters into my own hands. I designed my own seals and commissioned a German seal manufacturer to make then out of modern Viton rubber, being extra corrosion resistant while simultaneously remaining flexible to avoid pinching and deteriorating inside the cylinders.
