OEM GM Big Block Chevy 454 Manual Transmission Flywheel 3973457N #'s Match 168T

This is a vintage OEM GM manual transmission flywheel for externally balanced Big Block Chevy 454 engines. This flywheel is the larger diameter version with 168 teeth on the ring gear.   This will fit all externally balanced Big Block Chevy 454engines from 1970-1990. Please confirm your specific application based on the casting number and ring gear size. The casting number is 3973457 as shown. The date code is A 22 1 which decodes as January 22nd, 1971. The applications for a 454 in 1971 was very rare. The only cars that came with a 454 and manual transmission was the Corvette, Chevelle/El Camino, and some Chevrolet fullsize cars. Like other classic car drivetrain components, the parts need to be the correct part number and date in order to be considered number's matching. Items like flywheels did not used to be looked at as important in regards to part numbers and date codes. As the hobby has progressed, parts like this flywheel are considered part of the package in order for a vehicle to be full number's matching. Don't miss this real deal original example.
