For sale is a neat lot of three vintage Elgin Quality Automotive Replacement Parts boxes with original steering/suspension components inside. These are classic New Old Stock (NOS) or early replacement parts from Elgin Machine Works, Inc., Elgin, Illinois — a well-known American manufacturer of chassis and steering parts from the 1940s–1950s. What’s Included: • Three original orange-and-blue “Elgin Quality” boxes (heavy patina, surface rust, and wear consistent with 70+ year old shop stock — great vintage character). • Inside: Heavy-duty cast metal steering linkage parts (tie rod ends / ball joints / idler arm style components) with threaded studs, grease fittings, and tapered ends. • Handwritten labels note applications: • One marked ES-167A / ES167 with “CHEV 1949-54” • One marked ES245R with “RAM” (likely Rambler/Nash era) and additional numbers • One with “DAD PLY” notation (possible Plymouth reference) • All boxes clearly state “Made in the United States of America” and “Elgin Machine Works, Inc., Elgin, Illinois.” These parts were designed for 1949–1954 Chevrolet passenger cars (and similar-era Plymouth/Rambler applications) as replacement steering components. They show age-related grease and surface oxidation but appear complete and solid for restoration use or display. Perfect for: • Restoring a 1949–1954 Chevy Styleline/Fleetline, early Rambler, or Plymouth classic • Vintage auto parts collectors • Adding authentic period-correct shop display pieces (the boxes alone have great retro appeal) Condition: Sold as-is with honest vintage wear, patina, and storage marks. Parts have not been tested for fitment or function — please verify compatibility with your vehicle using the part numbers and era. No returns on vintage items, but photos are part of the description.
