Info on product: Maximum continuous current: 24 amps Designed for electrical vehicle charging Not suitable for RV or range use _EVSE Adapters, Exeter, CA_ Info from manufacturer: This adapter fits most dryer outlets installed in homes built prior to 1997. Made with heavy-duty 10 gauge cable. Features molded three-prong NEMA 10-30 plug on one end, and a NEMA 14-50 receptacle on the other end. Handles molded into connector to make it safe and easy to plug in and unplug. The NEMA 10-30 is an older style outlet that is rated for 30 amps and is commonly used for electric clothes dryers. **Note:** Not for RV use! This adapter is intended for electric car charging and therefore does not have a neutral connection. **FAQ about grounding of 10-30 outlets:** It's a common misconception that 10-30 outlets aren't grounded. Actually they are grounded, but not in the typical way. Since the 10-30 outlets only have three conductors, the ground and neutral are shared, and both are present on the outlet's L-shaped slot. Our EV adapter has been designed to route the ground connection from the 10-30 outlet while leaving the neutral alone. This way you still get a safe grounded connection. The neutral is not used by EV chargers - it's only used for 120 volt applications such as the timer on an electric dryer. So no additional grounding is necessary as that has been taken care of in the design of the adapter. All you need to do is plug it in and set your charging current to 24 amps.
