Crash data is permanent history that gets stored in the airbag control module after an accident. It is encoded in complex format that cannot be cleared or read by ordinary OBD2 scan tools. You may only get a generic description outlining the data as STORED or HISTORY codes. Though it's not always the case, a flashing SRS light is indicative of SRS codes, whereas a solid SRS light is indicative of crash data history. * * * # What is an OPDS or OCS Unit? If you scan your vehicle with an OBD2 scanner, you may come across an OPDS or OCS code.  The OPDS (Occupant Position Detection System) or OCS (Occupant Classification System) generally refers to a sensor, or a series of sensors, located in the front passenger seat.
