Used engines will not appear brand-new and may have corrosion and surface rust on them. If you're concerned about corrosion or surface rust on the engine block, please ask for detailed photos of the engine prior to ordering and shipping to avoid having to pay return freight on it if you find that surface rust on an engine block is bothersome. It's completely normal for a cast iron engine block to have rust on it, especially if you're ordering an engine for a vehicle that is 5 years old or older. Upon installation of the engine, fluids must be replaced, filters must be replaced, and spark plugs must be replaced. Expect the engine to smoke upon initial startup from engine oil collecting in the upper end from the engine being moved and disturbed. It's completely normal for a used engine to have light smoke during initial start. The engine is marked in several places and includes a heat tab on the back of the block for ownership and use verification. Warranty is valid if installed by a licensed repair facility with documentation of installation and consumable parts replacement. If you have any problems with the engine after installation, please be prepared to present documented diagnostics by a licensed repair facility outlining the exact problem with the engine, including compression results, leakdown results, and oil pressure results.
