The fire was mostly in the interior area, not so much in the engine bay. The valve has some smoke stains on its exterior, but it does not appear to have gotten very hot. Production for the "model year" usually begins in September of the previous calendar year, so if you have a 1995 model BMW it will have been produced anywhere between 9/94 - 8/95. Some cars begin their production earlier than September, such as the first year production for a new model. For example, if we say the part fits 04/95 - 99 it will fit those cars with a production date of April 1995 to 1999 model year cars.
