This rare steering gear box is from a 1962 C1 Corvette that was in a New Car dealer's showroom and looked like it had been treated to a full restoration. Unfortunately, they neglected the under dash wiring harness, and the car developed a serious dash fire. The steering gear box was not affected as it is mounted low. It turns properly lock to lock and the steel shaft is straight. The outer shaft cover may have a slight bend from the heat, but is easily straightenable. I don't believe this should be a serious problem.
