The original seals all suffered from hardening and breakdown after approximately 20,000 miles. Not only has the VANOS unit been upgraded with the new seals, but the rattle has been eliminated with an upgraded bearing housing. There is no excessive play in it so your new VANOS will never rattle. The VANOS does not come with a solenoid as it's safer to use your solenoid that you know already works perfectly.
