The piston faces have some carbon staining, but there is no permanent damage. A couple pistons have a few score marks on the upper skirt area above the rings. The skirt areas below the rings have no deep scoring of any kind. There are no chips or cracks. All pistons move smoothly on the wrist pins. The connecting rods are healthy and reusable. Production for the "model year" usually begins in September of the previous calendar year, so if you have a 1995 model BMW it will have been produced anywhere between 9/94 - 8/95. Some cars begin their production earlier than September, such as the first year production for a new model.
