Using this bracket plate reinforces the underside of the rear door and evenly distributes the stress where the strut will be mounted, rather than just strengthening the hole where the strut will be installed/tugging on. - **TESTED:** It has been documented that those that do not run this plate; the strut will rip/warp the hole where the strut gets mounted.
