If your van is running warmer than usual or you’ve noticed a decrease in AC performance at idle, a failing fan clutch is often the culprit. This is a genuine factory fan and clutch assembly pulled from a 4.3L V6. Choosing an OEM part ensures the correct blade pitch for maximum airflow and a thermal clutch calibrated specifically for your cooling system’s requirements. The fan blades have been inspected for chips or cracks, and the clutch has been tested for proper resistance. - Includes: Plastic cooling fan blades and the thermal fan clutch unit as pictured. Seller’s Tips & Tricks: - The Spin Test: To check the health of your clutch before installation, give it a flick. It should have a smooth, heavy resistance and stop quickly. If it spins freely like a bicycle wheel, the internal silicone fluid has leaked out and it won't pull enough air to cool the engine. - Water Pump Check: Since you have to remove the fan to get to the water pump, it is a great time to inspect your water pump pulley for any wobbles or leaks. Replacing both at once can save you hours of labor down the road. Maintenance & Care Advice: - Vertical Storage: If you aren't installing this immediately, try to store the unit in an upright (vertical) position. Storing fan clutches flat on their face for long periods can sometimes cause the internal fluid to settle in a way that makes the clutch engage harshly the first time it’s used. - Debris Removal: Periodically check the front of the fan clutch (the side with the small metal coil). If this coil gets covered in grease or dirt, it cannot "sense" the radiator heat properly and may fail to engage when your engine gets hot. This genuine part was pulled from a, fully functioning, 2000 Chevy Astro van that had a blown piston. The photos are of the actual item you will receive, unless specified otherwise.
