FORD SPEC IS ONLY 20 LB-FT (27Nm).** **If you over-tighten you could snap-off the end of the axle and you will need to purchase a new axle.** **See all details & lists below. This nut has a locking compound in the threads> The actual nut size is the same (M10 x 1.5mm) I believe you may be able to use the same nut on the earlier models but please decide this on your own research. I see the aftermarket axles show the same size nut for all the model years front 4x4 axles. Use at your own discretion. We believe the nut may be able to be used on the 2003-2006 vehicles but do your research. The early version of the lock nut had a small crimp in the nut to keep it from loosening-up. The new nut has a thread lock compound installed. This may be the reason they want the nut replaced if doing any hub service. Providing these details to help those unfamiliar or needing additional details but do your own research to be sure. We have had some customers tell us that they have successfully used this setup on the earlier 2003-2006 4x4 Expedition. You need to determine this prior to your purchase as this kit is a no returns accepted listing.** **WARNING, please read:** **Warning, Do not over tighten the small lock nut, please read** **This lock nut that goes directly behind the dust cap on the 4WD (4x4) models. It is very small. It has a 10mm thread size.** **Be aware that the** **torque spec on this nut is no more than 18-20 lb/ft.** **Please do not try to** **torque it to the much larger 2wd front axle nut torque spec. That nut is torqued** **to approximately 300 lb/ft. If you over-tighten this very small nut, you will** **snap-off the end of the 4WD axle and you will need a replacement axle assembly- ouch!
