Keep in mind to properly match the "on" temperature with the thermostat opening temperature to get the most out of your cooling system. An aftermarket fan that turns on at 160 degrees does not help much if you are running a 195 degree thermostat (fan always running) Conversely running a fan that does not turn on until 195 degrees or higher is not going to keep the engine cool when running a low temperature thermostat. All are high quality Motorad brand gaskets MG50 **Questions: Should you use a low-temp thermostat?** The use of a low-temp thermostat can help keep engine temps down in hotter weather and during performance driving situations. Also may be helpful if your cooling system is marginal. Do some research if you are unsure of your particular situation. Do you have a factory OEM 192F thermostat and looking for a lower temp replacement thermostat? This one will interchange with Motorcraft RT1139 (E0HT8260FA, XR3E8575BA, XR3Z8575BA) all of which are the OEM 192 factory temperature thermostat. For application and fitment purposes this is a low temperature thermostat that can interchange with these factory part numbers. It is a great idea to replace your thermostat as a preventative measure, especially if you cooling system is more than 5 years old. Changing coolant, change the thermostat. Many fitments. See list above & below. This setup can allow better cooling than the factory thermostat if your factory thermostat is a 190-195° temp range thermostat. A 160° can keep your engine a little bit cooler & under certain conditions can be beneficial & preferred. As stated this thermostat is rated at 160 degrees and will fit applications that take the listed cross-reference part numbers, although those part numbers may be rated at different temperatures. Please use this thermostat kit "only" if you know you want a 160 degree thermostat. We also carry other temperature thermostat kits that may be correct or a better choice if you want a factory temperature thermostat. If you are unsure, please contact me for help. Certain model Fords may trip a check engine light if the temperature is not what the computer is expecting or if it does not reach a certain operating temperature within a certain amount of time. Generally this can happen if the thermostat is stuck open or if it opens at a too-low temperature (usually when going bad). Generally the 160 degree is within the acceptable range, especially on older vehicles. Your individual results may vary & needs may be different, so choose your temperature accordingly. We also carry this setup in a 180°, 192° & 195° kit for those who want to replace the thermostat with the factory rated temperature.
